Seed Phytonutrients Moisture Shampoo Review

I received this shampoo as part of the Seeds Phytonutrients Voxbox and was so excited to see that all of their products are sustainable and plant-based! I’ve always loved the idea of going green and doing my part to help mother nature but had never taken any concrete steps to do so. Not only is the product itself sustainably sourced, the packaging is also eco-friendly and is made of compostable, recyclable materials. Their brand was the first to come out with a paper that could withstand the shower and also makes it out of 100% post-consumer recycled paper with a post-consumer recycled liner!
Seed Phytonutrients is the newest label from Loreal and signals a change in consumer desires for sustainable goods. All natural, green products are no longer considered specialty products and many larger labels are beginning to come out with their own sustainable lines. I love that our desires for sustainable and ethically sourced products are being heard and that larger companies are making sustainability a priority. After learning that Seed Phytonutrient source their ingredients through local farmers and pay them upfront for their hard work, I had a new respect for Seed Phytonutrients and what they stand for as a brand.
The first time I used the shampoo, I was surprised that it would not lather no matter how many pumps of shampoo I used. The bottle suggested one to two pumps, but I ended up having to use 5 to really feel like my hair was fully coated and cleaned. For those with a lot of hair, you may need to use more than you think to get the formula to permeate your whole head. Although I prefer and am used to my shampoo lathering, I know the chemicals that make the shampoo lather are not good for your body so I understood why the shampoo was the way it was. After using the shampoo exclusively for a week with their conditioner and leave in treatment, I have to admit my hair did feel a little drier than usual. I usually use salon-grade products like Nexxus and feel that this product wasn’t quite on the same level but would compare it to more everyday brands like Revlon or Head&Shoulders.

If you’d like to do your part to help the earth, I’d recommend at least trying the product out to see if it’s something you could use instead of the shampoo and conditioner you currently use! Although I wasn’t crazy with the quality of their shampoo I love what their brand stands for and would still love to support them as best I can. Thank you Influenster and Seed Phytonutrients for thinking of me and educating me about your product!
