The Scent Keeper by Erica Bauermeister
Whenever I travel one of the highlights is the airport experience, and I look forward to trying new foods and of course perusing the bookstore for something to keep me company on the plane ride! This was the first book I picked up from the recommended section and the synopsis immediately intrigued me. I’ve always found the idea that certain smells would hold different meanings for everyone interesting and did not find myself disappointed at all by this novel- I even passed this book on to my brother after I was done reading it and he gave it his stamp of approval as well!
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
My dear friend Megumi got me this book during a secret santa gift exchange and I remember being so excited to start reading it! This was more of a serious read and I found myself getting pulled into the suspense and not being able to put the book down once I started. Family dynamics are explored and tested throughout this novel and I felt as if I had better insight into some of my own relationships upon its completion (which by the way, was in 2 measly days). This is one I would definitely recommend to my friends and family!
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
I was so excited to hear that this novel was coming out on Hulu as a new series right when I finished reading it earlier this year- I couldn’t have asked for better timing!! Although you may have already seen the first few episodes online during this quarantine, I have to admit the book is better than the show. The internal dialogue of each character is described so much more decadently and I found myself so much more invested in each character after delving in!
