“The very essence of fashion is that you follow something, or someone. There has to be influence for something to be fashionable- it can’t happen in isolation” -Grimond
Throughout the month of January I made it a habit to bookmark images that really resonated with me, and the creative direction I hoped to pursue with Lieutalica. It quickly became apparent that this month would be all about:
light,
shadows
& textures.
Early into this year, light photography seemed to be a popular trend among photographers; from budding photo enthusiasts to professional photographers, January was all about mystical fairy lights and the silhouettes of palm trees. Notable sources of inspiration for this month include Brandon Woelfel and BleachFilm, whose dream-like creations really resonated with my current mood.
Their beautiful creations inspired works of my own, which were brought to life by my talented friend Ryan Zambrano:
Styling: Glasses by Urban Outfitters, Dress by Romwe, Coat by Zara
With the rising aesthetic standards of Instagram pages, more and more millennials are adopting abstract photography practices featuring bokeh lighting and dark silhouettes. With January quickly coming to a close, I’m interested to see how these themes will continue to evolve alongside other new, up and coming trends (did someone say #35mm?)
